Kaarisilta Biennale Exhibition was held in the summer 2021 for the fifth time. The Exhibition was on display at Ersta Manor and in it´’s surroundings in Lahti and in Gallery Art Kaarisilta in Helsinki.
Kaarisilta Biennale Exhibition received a lot of attention and good, enthusiastic feedback. Thanks for all the visitors and artists for the wonderful summer of Kaarisilta Biennale!
The theme of the exhibition reflected on relationship to nature and environment, both built and natural. The city of Lahti has been chosen as the European Capital of Environment for year 2021. Kaarisilta Biennale was involved in the implementation of the Environment year. Kaarisilta Biennale 2021 Exhibition was supported by Finnish Cultural Foundation and Kestävä Lahti Organization.
Kaarisilta Biennale´s purpose is to present Art and Artists extensively and to gather together Finnish and international Artists and their networks. Exhibition aims also to emphasize the meaning of Outsider Art in the Art World and to enable artistic dialog between different artists and organizations.
Kaarisilta Biennale Award
Kaarisilta Biennale 2021 jury granted Kaarisilta Biennale Award to Artschool Snurretoppen.

Stig Josefsen, manager of Artschool Snurretoppen, commented on the award: ”After a very slow year and Covid-19 and many activities closed down it ́s wonderful that Kaarisilta Biennale find our art work to have a such a quality to receive this prize!”
Kaarisilta Biennale received 212 applications, and 109 artists were accepted to this years Exhibition. Exhibitions Curator Photographer, Artist Ilkka Halso commented the selection: ”I felt priviledged to explore all the artworks that were offered to Kaarisilta Biennale. The choise wasn´t easy and I was forced to leave many good art works outside the exhibition because of the limited exhibition space. I was impressed by the positive energy and intensivity trasmitted from the art works. Kaarisilta Biennale will be magnificent!”
